Guess What? *updated with video!

I am in shock

My sweet baby Mae learned to crawl yesterday.

I thought it was going to be awhile since she was just rocking and not even close to being coordinated with her arms and legs.

I guess it just clicked for her all the sudden. She is still super shaky and can take about 4 little steps forward before falling. So far she will only crawl to the remote and crinkly wrapping paper. What am I? chopped liver?!

Life as we know it is over.

I wonder how good she'll be by next week. I will post a video soon.

Well I'm off to baby proof the house!!

Trip To Michigan

The 3 of us drove up to Michigan this last weekend. I'm happy we won't have to make that trip again for awhile because it is so hard to drive 13 hours with a super active 7 month old. She did pretty well but we had to split it up into 2 days both ways which meant only 2 full days in Michigan sans driving. : (

We had a great time though!! We went to all our favorite restaurants and as you will see in the pictures below we spent some absolutely beautiful mornings down on the beach. It always blows my mind that it's a lake and not the ocean! We got to spend Emili's 26th birthday with everyone which was a treat. Mae was a happy good girl the whole time (during the day, I mean). It was a great trip and we are happy to be back home and get Mae on a good schedule again. She was a HORRIBLE night sleeper while we were there and I'm hoping to catch up on some sleep the next couple days. Enjoy the pictures below. 7 Months of Life with Mae!

Beautiful Miss Mae is 7 months old as of August 19th.

How can I have a 7 month old? I know she'll be a year old before I know it. I don't think I could have a happier baby. She is such a sweet girl.
Here are some fun facts about Mae Elizabeth at 7 months

*She is almost 16lbs which puts her in about the 20th percentile so she's still a little petite.
*Mae takes 2 naps a day as of last week. I don't really want her to drop the 3rd one yet but oh well. It had to happen sooner or later.
*She didn't get the chicken pox!!!!!!
*Mae smiles ALL day. She is such a happy happy girl. We are so proud to show her off.
*Mae is a great sitter and if she falls it happens in like slow motion since she can brace herself.
*LOVES to be tossed in the air!
*She now holds her arms out if she wants me to hold her. SO sweet. It melts my heart everytime. I imagine that it won't be so cute in a couple years. haha
*Mae is rocking on her hands and knees and I wouldn't be shocked if she was crawling in a few weeks. I would be perfectly happy if she waited till 9 months though.
*Bedtime is around 7:30 and Shawn feeds her a bottle and she goes down without a peep. He is a great dad!
*She's learned to make this gasping sound when she is happy. She loves it but it's terrifying and we hate it.
*She still isn't the best eater. She likes puffs but only really has 1 good meal of baby food a day.
*She hates her carseat.
*She is nuts at restaurants. She becomes uncharacteristically starving and after she scarfs down whatever baby food I brought she proceeds to try and grabs EVERYTHING on the table with cheetah like speed. We are exhausted after eating out and don't plan on making it a habit. haha
*She isn't so sure about uncle matt yet. haha

We love her so much and I can't believe I gave birth to this wild active monkey girl we have now.

6 1/2 months old!

She loves that crinkly paper at the Dr's office. She was such a good happy girl. It helped that she didn't have to get any shots that day!

Daddy and Mae before church. They got to go just the two of them cause I was sick. Shawn dressed her and everything. Shawn is a great dad and I would have been lost this week without him while dealing with chicken pox.

Chicken Pox

No, Mae does not have chicken pox (THANK GOD!) but I certainly do. I am officially revolting. I have blisters everywhere even in my mouth and ears. I hate it SO much. It has taken 4 days to figure out what I have but we went to the Dr today and received the bad news. I am contagious until they all scab over which is probably 2 weeks. I cannot hold my baby or feed her which breaks my heart so much. I cannot hold my new nephew Ben who was born yesterday and will not be able to meet him for quite awhile. I had them as a child but I guess I didn't build an immunity. Why didn't they come up with the vaccination sooner!?

Please pray that I heal quickly and that the Lord protects Mae from getting it. It's not good for babies that young.
